What should you know about feelings and emotions in a divorce?

by | Mar 28, 2019 | Divorce

Many people who are going through a divorce in New Jersey are able to focus on the practical aspects of the case, including ways to address legal issues such as property division, child custody, child support and alimony. This focus can be useful in getting the matters addressed and behind them, but what about the emotions that come along with the end of a marriage? What should our readers know about what to expect when it comes to these oftentimes powerful feelings?

A recent article noted quite a few different emotions that divorcing spouses, and men in particular, may experience during and after the divorce process. For starters, the recent article noted that a divorce can have an impact on more relationships than just the marriage. Friendships are also commonly affected by a divorce, as “his friends” and “her friends” become yet another issue that can cause friction and confusion.

However, on the plus side, the recent article noted that some people may be caught off-guard by all of the support they receive from their family and friends during the divorce process. The people you know best will likely understand that you are going through a process that can be difficult, and may reach out with support when you least expect it.

Lastly, the recent article noted that some people aren’t prepared for the sense of freedom they have after the divorce case is all said and done, and behind them. They are single again after the divorce – on their own and free to make decisions, in many cases, based on their own expectations and desires.
